Dear BCP Sangha, Family and Friends,
Welcome to February, the month of love, hope and new beginnings. Although it is the shortest month of the year, it is a significant one. We often find ourselves rushing to complete our usual tasks in fewer days, but there is always comfort in knowing that March is just around the corner.
This past month brought rain, fog, and chilly temperatures providing a necessary rest for our plants and trees. As we drive around the countryside and see farmers preparing for the next harvest, we are reminded of the changing seasons and the concept of impermanence. While city dwellers may miss these sights, we are fortunate to see the blossom season first hand. Hopefully our appreciation runs deep in the history we have with this wonderful valley we call home.
Our BWA continues to prepare delicious, nutritious meals for our homebound members. Last month, Carol made sukiyaki, which was greatly enjoyed by many seniors. Thank you to the entire team for your dedication to cooking and delivering these meals.
We want to thank Kari, Ben, and Jason for leading the "Get to Know Your iPhone" class at the church. It was well-attended by members eager to navigate their technology. We all learned a great deal about our iPhones' capabilities.
(Sorry, haven't learned how to crop pictures, yet. Next iPhone class!)
Special recognition goes to Tad for his consistent work managing the weeds in our parking lot. We truly appreciate him stepping up to keep our grounds well-maintained. (Tad is like the elusive butterfly. We don't have any pictures of him,.....yet!)
Kaye keeps us informed with her monthly column that is always bright, engaging, and filled with the latest BCP news. She also brings beauty to our foyer at our services with her amazing ikebana arrangements. Arigato Kaye for all your talents.
And things wouldn't get done at our temple without Lynne and Joyce, the Dynamic Duo. They make sure our bentos are ready to go and the decorations are festive for our otokis.
One last item regarding the kittens that were abandoned at church in December. Many of you have let us know that you would like to help monetarily with the spay/neutering before the kittens find their "Forever Home". We will keep you informed when and where to send your donations. Thank you!
Enjoy the longer, warmer days ahead everyone and see you at church!
